Wanted Profile Wiki

The Wanted Profile is a feature in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas which determines how much law enforcement remains vigilant and in search for player after losing their wanted level. Wanted Profile are indicated in two different statuses, Wanted Rank and Profile.

Being spotted by any law enforcement officer will reinstate player's wanted level based on their wanted rank. Meaning additional measures is neccessary to avoid law enforcement after comitted major crimes.

Wanted Rank

Wanted Rank indicates how active law enforcement is in attempt to search player. As player's wanted level increases, wanted rank increases as well, if its lower than wanted level. However, wanted rank will persist after losing wanted level, which indicates that the officers are still in search for player.

Losing wanted level also suspend player's wanted profile for 30 seconds, giving player opportunity to escape from police mass.

Wanted rank has cooldown period which decreases over time based on in-game clock. The amount of time required to completely lose wanted rank varies.
    • Rank 1 : 12 in-game hours
    • Rank 2 : 1 in-game day
    • Rank 3 : 2 in-game days
    • Rank 4 : 3,5 in-game days
    • Rank 5 : 5 in-game days
    • Rank 6 : 7 in-game days
Additionally, collecting bribe pickup can reduce the cooldown by 6 hours. However, as bribe can only be collected with at least one wanted rank, player must take caution to collect bribe quickly before spotted by another police to avoid wanted level and rank reinstates.
    Profile

Profile indicates how well enforcement officer nearby recognize player. Police officer will recognize player easier from distance if player gained high profile. Maintaining low profile will be player's main objective to avoid law enforcement. There are several methods to maintain player's profile, and several situations that increase profile.

    Wanted Level
Gaining wanted level will increase player's profile, giving police better chance to recognize player as they pursue them.

    Distance
Keeping distance from player's last seen location (as in the moment player loses wanted level) is one of most effective ways to maintain profile. Player can lower their profile depending on the distance player has travelled. Higher wanted rank would require player to travel at great distance, such as moving to new city

Additionally, staying in countryside halves player's profile.

    Changing Appearance
Player can conceal their profile by changing appearance, such as new haircut or shirt. The amount of profile concealed depends on how much of player's attire has changed. However, player can only conceal up to 80% of their profile, even if player has changed every attire.

Amount profile concealed by each attire differs:
    • Getting new haircut: 20%
    • Change torso attire: 20%
    • Change legs attire: 20%
    • Change special attire: 40%
    • Change shades attire: 20%
    • Change hats attire: 20%
    • Change shoes attire: None
    • Change neck attire: None
    • Change watch attire: None
Additionally, changing shades and hats attire OR change shades and haircut altogether gives additional 30% concealment to profile.

    Change Vehicle
If player happen to lose wanted level in vehicle, police will remember player's vehicle and its color. Driving the same exact vehicle will increase player's profile by 40%

    Tips

    • Avoid crime activities and keep wanted level low.
    • Skipping time by saving game helps lower wanted rank quickly.
    • Avoid player's last location seen by police.
    • Change player's appearance.
    • Bribe pickups can suspend wanted rank and reduce its cooldown. Take advantage of this period to collect more bribes to greatly reduce the cooldown timer.
    • If player's destination is within high-profile radius, they can wreak havoc elsewhere to reinstate their wanted rank and lose the police there. This will distract police's search area away from your destination.
