| The player chasing a driving target |
The mission requires the player to kill any targets assigned by certain hitman agency.
Overview
At start of the mission, the player required to make contact with certain agent to receive their target list. Depending on player's setting, the agent might speak through player's cellphone or talk with them directly in a black Sentinel. An exception is made for player's first job, where the first agent will always wait for player in their car to introduce the job.
After receiving the list, the targets will be marked one after another. They will often seen in group, sometimes with another target, either driving or walking around and might be armed as well depending on their rank. Regardless of how many allies in target's group, the player only required to kill the marked ones before moving on to the next target.
Eliminating all targets in the list will advance the player to their next job, where another agent will inform player.
Target Rank
Targets are classified in Ranks, to determine how dangerous the target is. Civilians are ranked as lowest while professional criminals or enemy agent ranked as the highest. An option is available to either display target rank or allows agent to assign player with higher rank targets.
- Rank 1 - Basically civilians. They will often run away if confronted and easy to kill.
- Rank 2 - Targets that armed themselves with small firearms, such as 9mm or Micro SMG.
- Rank 3 - Cautious targets that wears armour and might holding either small firearms or Shotgun.
- Rank 4 - Resistant targets that have mastered small firearms. Sometimes carry SMG or AK47 instead.
- Rank 5 - Powerful targets that can carry powerful weapons, such as Desert Eagle or M4.
- Rank 6 - Dangerous targets that have a lot more health and mastered even Sawn-off Shotgun, MP5 and AK47.
Rewards
The money earned from kill contract depends on how many targets in list and their ranks.
- Killing target : Marked targets x 100 = Money
- Killing target without alert the target : Marked targets x 250 = Money
- Killing target without witnesses: Marked targets x 750 = Money
- Cleared target list : Accumulated target ranks x 500 = Money
Unlike other sidemissions that stores player's progress in "Missions" stat, Assassination stores the progress in "Crimes" > "Assassinations"
Tips
Stealth
Aside of obvious choice of beating or shooting the target, there are other options or additional measures to kill targets, with some of them keeping player's wanted level low or even bypass target's special traits.
- Using Silenced 9mm will attract less attention from the police
- Performing stealth with knife. Although this method is not recommended with targets that have their allies around since they will spot player immediately.
- Sniping target from the distance. This method will bypass target's immunity to headshot. This method also attract less attention, as long as there are no cops nearby
Wanted Level
Gaining too much wanted level will put the player at disadvantages. They will be avoided by agents and targets will anticipate their arrival. It is advised to keep the wanted level at least below 3 stars.
Additionally, some contracts contains risk of police tracking player's activity. The player will gain wanted level immediately after finishing the contract. However, if the player manages to eliminate all targets without gaining wanted level, they will gain half of the wanted level instead.
Trivia
- On rare occassions, either the target or their ally will have the player's model. This is a bug during retrieving model data. On another rare case, a crash will follow after killing the target.
- It is likely that the agency that hires the player are well-established underground group as they prioritizes anonymity. They never specifically mention their identity nor questioning the player's.
- During development, assassination sidemission often skips version numbers during updates, resulting in high version number, being in version 9.0. The author specify if the numbers are revised, Assassination sidemission would be in version 6.0 [citation needed]
