Special Adrenaline Wiki

The Special Adrenaline is a mechanic that allows player to activate temporary effect of slowing down game's time to gain advantages in certain situations, not unlike Adrenaline Pills found in Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. This mechanic is also reminiscent to Special Ability featured in Grand Theft Auto V.

Description

When activated, special adrenaline gives player a temporary boost of speed while seemingly slowing down time. While the game's speed is slowed down, the player's aiming speed is the same as it would normally be, which is handy when engaged in gun battles such as police, gangs or during rampages. However, unlike Adrenaline Pills this effect can be activated in vehicle.

Ability

Player has an additional meter which indicates how much adrenaline could lasts. The player can activate special ability by pressing Caps Lock on PC. The meter can be increased by performing certain tasks. Filling the meter will also increase Special stat. The Special stat indicates the capacity of Adrenaline meter, meaning the adrenaline effect could lasts longer with full meter.

The following events give an increase to the ability:
  • Headshot: medium bonus
  • Chain kills with guns: medium bonus
  • Maintaining high speed in vehicles: continuous small bonus
  • Near vehicle misses at high speed: medium bonus
  • Health drop below 25%: large bonus

Additionally it is also possible to upgrade this ability further by performing certain tasks when adrenaline is active. Player's aiming accuracy can be improved by regularly performing headshots and chain kills during adrenaline. Similiarly maintaining high speed and near misses in vehicles will also improve vehicle handling while using the ability.

Notes

  • The more Special skill player has, the longer it takes to completely fill adrenaline meter.
  • Chain kills can only performed by guns (bullets). Melee, fire, explosive or projectiles doesn't count. However, shooting an explosive object to kill nearby peds does count as chain kill.
  • In its full potential, this mechanic is considered overpowered as aside of slowing down surroundings, player also acquires stable weapon accuracy (even with dual SMGs) and increased mobility with vehicles. On top of that it can be triggered anytime and the effect lasts up to 30 seconds.
